Vandoren

Vandoren: a Century of Passion...

The Vandoren company was founded in 1905 and quickly became the leader in reeds, mouthpieces and accessories for clarinets and saxophones.  A Family business, founded by Eugène Van Doren in 1905 and continued by his son, clarinetist Robert Van Doren then by Bernard Van Doren and now Robert Van Doren (President), who joined the company in 2014.

The historic workshops of rue Lepic in Paris were transferred in the early 90s down to Southern France (Bormes les Mimosas), enabling the development, modernisation and constant optimisation of their manufacturing processes. The Parisian space has since been transformed into a test studio, showroom and specialist teaching school.

Cane is the raw material for making reeds. It is a 100% natural plant that Vandoren grow for most of their needs in their own cane fields located in Southern France. All natural waste from reed making is fully reused, either as compost in their cane fields or to supply the boiler that heats their factory!
