Neck: When Jeff Loomis plays a solo he needs a neck pickup that can keep up with high-speed picking and legato techniques but is also dynamic enough for more sustained passages. Developed over many months and tested on tour with Arch Enemy, Jeff’s neck pickup is very articulate and responsive, with a focused bass response to keep lower notes from sounding too boomy and a slight bump in the treble frequencies to faithfully reproduce his pick attack.
Bridge: Whether playing solo, with Arch Enemy or Conquering Dystopia, Jeff Loomis requires a bridge pickup that can handle aggressive riffs, complex chords and high-speed virtuoso lead work. After months of prototype development and testing in the real-world environment of the road, the result is the Jeff Loomis Signature Blackouts bridge pickup. This high-output active humbucker is designed with a low end that keeps power chords sounding big and powerful. It has a strong pick attack and a pronounced midrange response that allows the pickup to track fast playing very accurately without sounding thin.
Set: Jeff Loomis knows what he wants to hear from his guitar, whether playing solo or as a member of iconic metal bands like Arch Enemy and Conquering Dystopia. When he set out to design his signature Blackouts™ set, Jeff wanted pickups that would remain clear under heavy distortion. This set offers a strong attack to maintain detail when he plays fast, and with enough sustain and dynamics to keep up with his advanced legato and picking techniques.
