Hagstrom Danko Jones Signature Ultra Max - White

The Hagstrom Danko Jones Signature model began its life during the pandemic, when Danko’s guitar tech, Tim, took a stock Hagstrom Ultra Max and began making a series of focused custom modifications. What started as a modified stage instrument became the foundation for a guitar designed around Danko’s own needs: elegant, simple, powerful, and ready to fill any venue with thick, luscious tone.

The goal was clear: create a no-nonsense rock machine that was simple in function, comfortable to play, and powerful enough to carry an entire set without the need to change guitars.

At its core, the Danko Jones Signature is designed for players who demand performance, reliability, and tone without distraction. Its lightweight feel and carefully shaped body make it comfortable for long shows, while the specially tapered neck removes additional material from the treble side for easier access and smoother playability. At the same time, the neck retains enough depth and substance to give players something solid to grip into.

A key part of the guitar’s voice comes from Hagstrom’s proprietary locking wrap-around bridge. When locked firmly to the body, the bridge helps transfer string vibration directly into the entire instrument, allowing the guitar to resonate more freely and fully. The result is exceptional sustain, increased attack, and a more alive, responsive feel that brings out the richness, depth, and natural tonality of the selected tonewoods.

The heart of the Danko Jones Signature is its custom-made Mango Tone humbucker. Named with a nod to Danko’s own “Mango Kid” nickname, Mango Tone takes the classic PAF foundation and pushes it harder, delivering a juiced-up voice with extra power, grit, and attitude. Inspired by the hotter late-1970s “brown tone” pickup character, it uses AlNiCo 4 magnets and plain enamel wire to produce a medium/high output of approximately 9.75K. The result is a pickup dripping with harmonics, rich midrange, bite, clarity, and muscle. It offers a hint of raw grit, excellent string separation, powerful crunch, and enough warmth to deliver surprisingly rich clean tones when rolled back. Versatile, expressive, and direct, Mango Tone gives the Danko Jones Signature its unmistakable voice.

With a single humbucker and single volume control, everything about this guitar is focused on simplicity and impact. Less load on the circuit means more output to the amp, giving the player a direct, open, and powerful signal. No distractions. No unnecessary controls. Just plug in, turn up, and play.
