As demand on our world’s forests and environment grow, it is critical we build guitars using sustainable sourcing. Breedlove never use tonewood from clear-cut trees on their USA made or Organic Collection instruments and are very close to achieving this on all of their overseas products. Travelling throughout the world they go to the forests and work with local families and mills whenever possible. Sustainable sourcing is the right thing to do. There’s tremendous variability in a forest, from the top to the bottom of a tree, up to 30%. Every single piece of tonewood must be considered unique. Why does this matter? If this variability is not addressed, the modern acoustic guitar is not living up to its sound potential. The finest instrument builders in history understood tonewood variability.
